I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali has officially announced a 24-hour suspension of all flight operations to observe Nyepi (Silent Day) 2026. From 6:00 AM on March 19 until 6:00 AM on March 20, 440 commercial flights will be grounded, and the island’s airspace will fall silent to honor the sacred Balinese Hindu tradition.

Indonesia’s central bank tightened foreign-exchange regulations as policymakers in South-east Asia’s biggest economy try to soften the impact of the Middle East war on inflation and the rupiah.

Bali immigration authorities have waived overstay fines for dozens of foreign nationals stranded on the island due to ongoing disruptions to international flights linked to thonflict in the Middle East.

The Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration granted exemptions to 35 foreigners who overstayed their visas after flight routes to several destinations were suspended following the U.S.–Israel strikes on Iran on Feb. 28.
