Bali is becoming a sporty place nowadays. From run clubs to padel, from yoga to surfing, and from soccer to open-water swimming, if you want to get fit, stay fit, and play, Bali is the place to be.
All this demand for sports has naturally led to massive investment in sports facilities in top tourism destinations.

Liga.Tennis is working around the clock to keep up with the growing demand for racket sports in Bali. The team has just opened a new venue in Uluwatu.
Speaking at the opening of the latest Liga.Tennis Uluwatu, Liga. Tennis founder Dmitry Shcherbakov, accompanied by his business partners Nyoman Ayunanda Mahartaning and Jordan Sanchez, told reporters the latest expansion into Uluwatu to keep up with the migration from the Canggu and Seminyak areas to Uluwatu in terms of tourism and residential developments.
Shcherbakov told reporters, “We’re seeing local communities and expats living in Canggu and Seminyak starting to move to Uluwatu. They’re not just looking for surfing, but also other sports like tennis and padel.”
The Liga.Tennis team is keen to keep up with the growing demand, but not at any cost. While the new facility also has padel courts, since demand for padel is astronomical, the team will be focusing on establishing a strong culture of community.
Shcherbakov shared, “We’re not just thinking about business competition or who’s going to get the most traffic. Our primary focus is building a community. There will be a tennis community, a padel community, a family community, and even a youth community. That’s our strength.”
He added, “To strengthen the community, we’ve also developed various tiered programs targeting all levels of players, from beginners, intermediate, advanced, to high-achieving athletes. We want this place to be their base for training and development.”
Liga.Tennis has several facilities around Bali, the biggest of which is in Sanur. The company’s other facilities in Bali also include Umalas Tennis & Padel, Seminyak Padel, and Nusa Dua Tennis.
The team also has an outlet at Nihi Sumba. Liga.Tennis has a big vision, with already 100,000 members across their clubs; they want to have 77 successful clubs up and running in the next decade. Bali will be a strategic location for them.

Nyoman Ayunanda Mahartaning told reporters that for her, the community element is vitally important. Moving forward, the company will also invest heavily in programs and a core member base of women and children in the sport.
She shared, “When kids join, parents usually get involved too. From there, the community will grow naturally. That’s what we’ve been building, and that’s our formula.” Adding “What sets us apart isn’t just the number of fields. We have clear systems, structures, and programs. We strive to understand the needs of communities in each location and tailor our services to their needs.”

The new Liga. Tennis Uluwatu is home to two tennis courses, four padel courses, a members’ lounge, an in-house cafe and pro-shop, and a recovery suite, complete with sauna and ice bath, which will be opening soon.
It is not only racket sports that are soaring in popularity in Bali right now, but all sports. Only last month did Bali host the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series with huge success. The island is now frequently hosting major international sporting events and heavily investing time, energy, and resources in community-based sports events, too.

Penglipuran Village just hosted its Pengli-Run 5km community fun run event, and with such a great turnout, we’re sure the team will host another soon. In the meantime, the Jatilwuih Fun Run, which will take place on the 20th June 2026, and the Bali Culture Run, which will be hosted in Nusa Dua on the 26th July 2026.
