The Sanur lifestyle destination becomes Indonesia’s only retail project recognized on the global stage
Sanur continues to strengthen its position as one of Bali’s most exciting lifestyle destinations as ICON BALI earns international recognition at the FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards 2026. The integrated shopping, dining, and cultural destination has been named World Silver Winner in the Retail Category, making it the only Indonesian retail development to receive an award at one of the world’s most prestigious property competitions.
The award was presented during the FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards 2026 held at the historic Hofburg Palace in Vienna, Austria, recognizing outstanding real estate developments that excel in design, innovation, sustainability, management, and community impact.
From National Champion to Global Recognition
ICON BALI’s international achievement follows its success at the FIABCI Indonesia–REI Excellence Awards 2025, where it received the Gold Winner award in the Retail category. That national recognition earned the project the opportunity to represent Indonesia on the world stage.
Organized by the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI), the awards celebrate exceptional developments from around the globe. Every participating project is a national winner evaluated across multiple criteria, including architectural excellence, financial management, innovation, sustainability, technology, and positive contributions to the surrounding community.
According to Heru Nasution, MBA, CSM, President Director of PT Grha Hatten Duasatu, the recognition extends beyond architecture and commercial success.
“For us, this award is also recognition of an idea—that Bali’s local values, culture, and identity are capable of earning appreciation on the global stage.”
A Retail Destination Inspired by Bali
Located in the heart of Sanur, one of Bali’s fastest-growing tourism districts, ICON BALI introduces a retail concept that goes beyond conventional shopping malls.
Spanning approximately 32,000 square meters of retail space with more than 200 tenants, the destination combines shopping, dining, entertainment, cultural performances, and beachfront experiences within one integrated complex.
Rather than creating a typical commercial center, ICON BALI embraces the philosophy of retail tourism, where visitors experience Bali’s culture alongside its retail offerings.
Its contemporary architecture draws inspiration from the island’s natural landscapes and cultural heritage, while generous open public spaces, direct beach access, and daily Balinese cultural performances create a destination that feels uniquely connected to its surroundings.
Celebrating Bali Through Design and Community
The FIABCI World Silver Award recognizes ICON BALI’s ability to successfully integrate architecture, sustainability, tourism, and community engagement into a single destination.
President Commissioner Ida Bagus Rai Budarsa dedicated the achievement to the people of Bali during the award presentation.
“This achievement belongs not only to ICON BALI. We dedicate this award to the Provincial Government of Bali, the Denpasar City Government, and the people of Bali who have been part of ICON BALI’s journey and growth until it gained international recognition.”
The international accolade further reinforces Bali’s reputation as a destination capable of delivering world-class developments while preserving its cultural identity.
A New Benchmark for Retail Tourism in Indonesia
As tourism continues to evolve beyond traditional attractions, destinations like ICON BALI demonstrate how shopping centers can become cultural landmarks that celebrate local heritage while serving modern lifestyles.
By combining architecture inspired by Bali, immersive cultural programming, beachfront experiences, and a curated retail mix, ICON BALI offers visitors a destination where commerce and culture coexist.
The FIABCI World Silver Award marks another milestone not only for ICON BALI but also for Indonesia’s retail industry, showcasing how locally inspired developments can successfully compete alongside leading international projects.
