TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Bali has been selected to represent Indonesia as a host destination for the Asian Games Fun Run, a key promotional event ahead of the 20th Asian Games in Aichi–Nagoya, Japan, scheduled from September 19 to October 4, 2026.
“Indonesia is proud to be included in the Asian Games Fun Run continental series,” Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia) Chairperson Raja Sapta Oktohari stated in a press release received in Jakarta on Wednesday, June 10.
“We are showcasing Bali as an Indonesian icon, not just as a venue, but as a reflection of the country’s vibrant spirit, beauty, and hospitality in welcoming the 2026 Aichi–Nagoya Asian Games,” Oktohari added.
He further noted that this opportunity provides vital momentum for Indonesia to help foster the Asian Games spirit across the region, while boosting public excitement for the Games and promoting active, healthy lifedata-styles within the broader community.
The event is set to take place at the Bali Collection complex in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Sunday, June 14, 2026. Designed as a Sunset Fun Run, the event offers participants the unique experience of jogging against the backdrop of the Island of the Gods’ signature twilight scenery.
Bali’s selection stems from its status as a world-renowned tourism hub, highlighting Indonesia’s prowess in merging athletic initiatives with premier travel destinations, also known as sports tourism.
Meanwhile, Tabitha Sumendap, who chairs the organizing committee for the Asian Games Fun Run Road to Aichi–Nagoya 2026, emphasized that the Sunset Fun Run concept in Bali serves as a major public attraction.
“We want to offer a unique experience, [where participants] don’t just run, but immerse themselves in the warm, beautiful Balinese atmosphere at dusk. This is a combination of sports, a healthy lifedata-style, and Indonesia’s natural beauty,” Tabitha said.
The event has drawn collaborative support from various international bodies, including the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the Aichi–Nagoya Asian Games Organizing Committee (AINAGOC), marking a joint effort to ensure the success of the upcoming 2026 Asian Games.
The Asian Games Fun Run Bali also receives backing from several domestic partners, including the Injourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), which serves as the venue partner for the Bali Collection area.
